Days have past And still I ride As far away From that horrid sight My thoughts are blurred But my task is clear To taste revenge I must persevere The path has brought me to A garrison of men Though unbeknownst They take me in Banished knights who have Cursed the king Lament for the heretics And our suffering I’ll learn their ways Of sword and shield We won’t relent ‘till the Tyrant’s repealed Then one night they Spoke of her A powerful demigod With angelic allure Sharpened eyes of destiny Unsheathed of all despair Gazing past the uncertainty To find her waiting there Thrust into an inflamed glimpse A vision linked Has she bewitched my mind To make me think? When I came back to cognizance I was bidden to reach this sorceress Sharpened eyes of destiny Unsheathed of all despair Gazing past the uncertainty To find her waiting there

The taste of blood is on my lips Unyielding The crown above begins to slip Into the depths I force my hands upon your neck In vengeful expulsion Thrust onto the altar’s crest To pray no more Placed together, face to face With our blades we end this Bloodstained, on this day Disdained, monarchs cursed away Bloodstained, collapse of faith Profanation, I embrace The king and queen are left in their Lesser form In blasphemy we are relived from The tyranny As I thought we relined the Equipoise A knife is pierced into her chest By my nemesis Perverse is the snake In one last offense Brought to the edge And dropped to your death I’m left to bereave In absence of light At cost to triumph I’m given the right

about

Pile of Priests' self titled album is a conceptual story that takes place centuries ago in a fictional universe not unlike our own.

Plot summary: An exiled prince of kingdom ruled by a deranged king, seeks out the help of a powerful sorceress to end his father's reign of a slave like religion and avenge his rebellious sister who became a martyr after her execution.

Dark and melodic, the progressive death metal album is a huge milestone for the band. The band acknowledges that it encompasses the style they have been striving to portray for a long time. Guitarist and vocalist for the band Evan Salvador comments:
"We decided to self title the album because we feel like it encompasses our true sound, something we have been building up to throughout the years and collectively agree has been achieved with this album.”

Legendary Swedish musician and producer Dan Swanö, whom mixed and mastered the album, comments:
"An excellent showcase of what can be done with the metal genre when you think a bit outside the box! Massive and progressive yet memorable tunes, where my fave one is "Deus Delenda Est", bringing me back to the kind of thrash I was hooked at the end of the 80's"
